The Clark County School District (CCSD) is the public school district serving Clark County, Nevada, and the largest school district in the state. By enrollment, it ranks as the fifth-largest school district in the United States, serving approximately 305,000 students across pre-kindergarten through 12th grade as of the 2023–2024 school year. CCSD is also the largest employer in both Clark County and the state of Nevada, with roughly 43,786 employees as of 2024.
Founded in 1956 following a statewide consolidation of Nevada’s school districts, CCSD was formed by merging dozens of smaller, county-level school districts into a single unified system. Its administrative offices are located at 5100 W. Sahara Avenue in Las Vegas, Nevada. The district can be reached by phone at (702) 799-2273 and online at ccsd.net.
CCSD operates 373 schools, including 233 elementary schools, 61 middle and junior high schools, 54 high schools, 21 alternative schools, and four special schools. The district also operates Vegas PBS (KLVX), a Public Broadcasting Service member station licensed to its board of trustees. Its annual budget was approximately $3.813 billion as of 2021.
The district is governed by a Board of Trustees composed of seven elected voting members and four appointed non-voting members representing the cities of Las Vegas, Henderson, and North Las Vegas, as well as Clark County. Jhone Ebert has served as superintendent since April 2025, becoming the first woman to permanently hold the position in the district’s history.
Over its nearly seven-decade history, CCSD has navigated the challenges of rapid regional population growth, desegregation efforts dating to the 1970s, and ongoing legislative efforts to reform school governance. The district continues to serve one of the most diverse and fastest-growing metropolitan regions in the country.
